Peter Gauntlett — Podiatrist & Director of South London Foot Clinic
Peter Gauntlett is an experienced podiatrist with over seventeen years in clinical practice. Before entering the field of podiatry, he qualified in Outdoor Education and Sports Science — a foundation that shaped his approach to injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Peter has a keen interest in lower limb injuries and their treatment. Since qualifying as a CASE-accredited sonographer in 2018, he regularly uses ultrasound imaging to enhance the diagnostic process in his clinical work.
His injury management approach blends classical biomechanics with gait analysis, podiatric and orthopaedic assessments, and the fascial model developed by Luigi Stecco. This model views fascial restrictions as a key factor in reduced strength, flexibility, and pain. By addressing these restrictions, Peter helps patients regain function and reduce discomfort.
He integrates prescriptive exercise, shockwave therapy, and orthotics into tailored treatment plans. He also considers nutrition, movement, and bio-psycho-social factors as part of a holistic recovery process.
Peter values open, collaborative conversations with patients to support their return to health and activity — always within a practical and professional framework.
Committed to clinical excellence, Peter engages in regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to keep his skills sharp and evidence-based.
He is a proud member of both the Royal College of Podiatry and the British Medical Ultrasound Society.
Outside of clinic life, Peter is an avid long-distance walker and can often be found exploring the South Coastal Path, the Welsh peaks, or taking on ambitious hiking challenges in Scotland and beyond. He is also an aspiring capoeirista, practising the Brazilian martial art of Capoeira.
